DISTRICT SEPAC MEETING MONDAY, MAY 7 AT 7:30 PM – NISHUANE SCHOOL, LIBRARY

Montclair is fortunate to have very passionate and active parents in our community. In addition to general business, SEPAC has invited a few parents to speak at the meeting about some of their grassroots work on the topic of special education and advocacy. Alma Schneider will be joining us to talk about her Montclair Friday Group and Nina Nsilo-Swai will also take some time to share her advocacy on topics shared at the Board of Education meetings this year.

TALKING ABOUT TECHNOLOGY: CYBER-AWARENESS PARENT FORUM TUESDAY MAY 8 7 pm

Please continue the conversation and join us for a Cyber-Awareness Parent Forum on Tuesday, May 8th, 7:00-8:30PM. ‘RED NOSE DAY’ ACTIVITIES TO FIGHT CHILD POVERTY – POP UP WEDNESDAY MAY 9

Hillside is supporting ‘Red Nose’ Day on May 24, a global initiative to fight child poverty. To date, the initiative has raised $100 million and reached more than 8 million children through various organizations and programs. Locally, Montclair is painting the town red to raise awareness and money to this important cause. One of the charities we can help is the Covenant House, a network of shelters for homeless youth, which has a shelter in our community. Additionally, funds will be donated to the Boy’s and Girl’s Clubs of America, Feeding America, and several other organizations that help those who are living in poverty. Learn more here.

So what are we doing? Raising money with a Red Noses & Googley Eyes Art Installation on and around Hillside. For every $25 donated we can have more art installed. No amount is too large or too small to help. Donate now! The money gets passed along to the Red Nose Day charities.

To help the cause and help to paint the town red, sign up for our Pop Up Workshop on May 9. Students will make their own Red Noses & Googley Eyes’ Art Installation to hang inside or outside of your home. Register here. The $25 fee includes materials and a red nose to wear while decorating as well as a $20 donation to the cause. There are a limited number of spots, so please register as soon as you can to secure your spot.

WE NEED YOU! PTA AND EXECUTIVE BOARD OPENINGS

Want to help the PTA for the 2018-2019 school year? Because we need you! As you may know, the PTA is responsible for much of the fundraising and family communication for Hillside. TIME TO TOAST OUR TEACHERS – MESSAGE FROM THE MFEE

It's time to Toast our Teachers while raising critical funds to support teacher grants that fuel classroom innovation. At Hillside, your Toast donations fund everything from boosting the revamped Science Day, alternative seating like standing desks that increase student focus, and additional resources to support the arts. MFEE Toasts are family-hosted parties that take place from the end of May to the end of June every school year. Honor a Teacher Today.
