THANKSGIVING WEEK SCHEDULE

Wednesday is early dismissal and school is closed Thursday and Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Enjoy.

PTA MEETING UPDATE

Our second PTA meeting was lively and productive. We discussed upcoming fundraisers and events, holiday activities, SATp initiatives and received information about the new Food Service. We will be sharing information on all of the above and please mark your calendars for our next PTA meeting on January 10 at 9:30 a.m.

WINNER OF PTA MEMBERSHIP DRIVE

Thank you gifts for people who signed up for PTA memberships before October 15th are here. The reusable tote bags and magnets are going home with students this week. Jayna Neagle is the winner of the $50 Spirit Wear gift certificate.

SCHOOL SPIRT WEAR

New Spirit Wear is coming! Stay tuned to our Facebook page for preorder information. Delivery can be made just in time for the holidays!

ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL BOOK FAIR

We had a terrific turnout at the annual Hillside Book Fair. A special thank you to the organizers: Holly Hahn, Cheryl Rafferty, Cynthia Leigh Heim, Jill Montague, Tia Adams, Diana Kabashi and Corrine Smithen. Your hard work and dedication are much appreciated.

And thank you to all the families who purchased books! And thank you Mrs. Traina for sharing her book, “Travel Tails: All Bark and No Bite” at Family Night.

Thanks to our students who raised more than $2,300 for books for teachers and the Hillside community. Winners of the challenge: Mrs. Schatzman -3rd grade, Mrs.Traina - 4th grade with a come from behind win, and Mr. Bongiovanni – 5thgrade. The winners will be celebrated in school.

‘LET’S HAVE A VOICE’ POSTER CONTEST WINNERS

Dr. Anglin announced the second annual Anti-Bullying Poster Contest Winners on Friday: Thank you for sharing your voice. Benedict Read -3rd grade, Owen Kahn - 4th grade, Ryan Mullen - 5th grade.

PANERA BREAD FUNDRAISER – NOV. 29

Donate to the PTA by eating at Panera Bread on Nov. 29 from 4-8 pm, 15 Bloomfield Avenue. Just bring a copy of this flyer or show an electronic version. Thanks Panera!

MAKE-A-WISH GIFT GIVING DRIVE STARTS DEC. 1

Our annual "Make-A-Wish Come True" giving program starts after Thanksgiving break. If you are brave enough to do some holiday shopping on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, we are looking for donations of winter coats and gloves for kids' sizes 8-14. We will post the lists of desired toys shortly, but art supply sets, "Diary of A Wimpy Kid" or "Wonder" book sets are always welcomed. Check out the list at Make A Wish Come True 2017

KNIT HATS FOR MAKE A WISH – DEADLINE EXTENDED TO DEC. 15

The deadline to make hats for Hillside and Nishuane Holiday Giving has been extended to December 15th. We have about 50 hats so far and the aim is 120 so get knitting! For more information and sign up here.

FROM NURSE REILLO: EXTRA CLOTHES NEEDED FOR STUDENTS

Nurse Reillo is collecting clothes for students who need to change at school. If you have any spare t-shirts, sweatshirts, stretchy pants or sweatpants for ages 8 - 11 (sizes 8 – 14) please bring to Nurse Reillo's office anytime during school hours.

HILLSIDE WINTER CONCERT NOV. 30

Come see the Hillside Philharmonic, Traveling Troupe, Chorus and Drums of Thunder. Show goes on at 6:30 p.m. Did we hear Harry Potter and Seussical may be part of the show?
