Hillside Weekly News

Here’s a quick look at what’s inside this week’s issue:
• Fireball Donations Needed-Monetary and Auction Items
• District Elementary Math Night Moved to March 12th
• Hillside Explorers Needs Volunteers
• Dance Gear Drive

This is a friendly reminder for families to ensure that you are staying in your cars when dropping your children off on St. Luke’s Place in the morning. This is specifically a drop-off area only. Please do not park your cars or get out of your cars when pulling up to drop your child off. You are welcome to park your car further down St. Luke’s Place or on the west side of St. Luke’s place if you need to get out. Getting out of cars into the street and walking in front of or behind cars can be dangerous. Parking the car and getting out prevents the car line from moving efficiently. Thank you for your cooperation.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped make the Hillside Tours an incredible success this week! We had over 175 people come through the building! We were able to give them tours specific to their child (3rd vs kindergarten, transfers and IEP specific tours) so everyone was able to ask questions and get as much relevant information as possible. Special thanks to Karen Andes for organizing the tours! We truly could not have handled that many people without the hard work of: Trente Miller, Jen Herman, Amira Williams, Beth Larson, Deirdre Birmingham, Jody Suden, Holly Lehr-Hahn, Erin Walter
Gina Shaw, Amber Gilbert, Daniel Buckley, Moira McCollam, Heather Zusman, Erica Clark-Mitchell, Margaret Merrifield, Gina Fortt, Linda Kow, Shirin Irani, Kellie Atkins and Stacey Best.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Hillside Talent Show! We have some incredibly talented students at Hillside! Shout outs to the following volunteers for all their hard work to make the show a success: Tinu Joseph - Producer/Director
Laura Linn - Lighting/Production, Susan Gardner - Communications/Production, LaNa Jones-Jules – Sound, Marquez Price – Sound, John Randall – Sound, Kellie Atkins – Production, Benedicta Sisti- Production, Denise P Owens – Production and Paul Joseph – Production.

Fireball is a fantastic fundraiser that happens once every three years to benefit Hillside and Nishuane elementary schools. This year’s event is at the fabulous The Grove in Cedar Grove. Check out the venue here: The Grove

Family donations are the heart and soul of our FIREBALL fundraising. Over the years, generous donations from Hillside and Nishuane families have included monetary gifts as well as a myriad of items for our auction & raffle. The last FIREBALL raised $60,000 for Nishuane and Hillside! The funds were used to improve classroom libraries, upgrade auditorium equipment and fund other high-impact items in our schools. And this year we want to raise even more!

Monetary Donations
A financial gift is the most direct way to support FIREBALL. Family donations of $100 or more include listing in our event program. If you give $500 or more, your family will receive free event tickets and also be recognized on signage and in our social media marketing.

And, if your company matches charitable donations, your financial gift to FIREBALL could double!

Auction & Raffle Items
We are looking for unique and fun auction & raffle items. So, put on your thinking cap…
• I know a celebrity and I can ask him/her for…..
• I have a vacation home and I could donate a …..long stay
• I am willing to provide …hours of my professional service
• I am a professional musician, dancer, artist and could donate lessons, etc.
• I can get tickets to …..(Broadway show, TV show, sports game, concert, etc.)
• I will encourage other Hillside/Nishuane parents
• Other? Get creative!
