Mark your calendars for fun! The Hillside PTA is excited to announce its first ever Parent and Staff Cornhole/Kickball Classic. The event will take place on Sunday afternoon, October 6th at the Wally Choice Community Center in Glenfield Park. You do not have to play cornhole or kickball in order to join in the fun! The idea is to come together as a school community to get to know each other a little better and have some laughs. Wally Choice Community Center is BYO and alcohol is permitted. Kids are also totally welcome to cheer on their teachers and parents or just run around the playground. More details to follow soon but be sure to save the date.

It’s that time of year again to get your Hillside swag on! We will have apparel and merchandise for sale at the following events: Back-to-School Picnic and Back-to-School night. Come on out and show your Hillside spirit!

The Hillside PTA has started a NEW Closed Facebook Group where they will post important information about events, registration deadlines, and volunteer opportunities and will also keep you up to date on the daily school schedule (a.k.a. the “A” day and “B” day schedule). You can join the group here: Hillside PTA on Facebook

We encourage all parents to join the Hillside PTA. Their goal is to support and advocate on behalf of our students in school and in the community. A word from Ms. Scott...

Hello Hillside Families!

Get your Spirit Wear ready because Start with Hello week is September 23rd - September 27th!

Start with Hello is an initiative started through the Sandy Hook Promise organization. The entire week is dedicated to raising awareness about the impact of social isolation. Each day during the week Hillside staff and students will participate in an activity aimed at helping us create a culture of inclusion and connectedness. The scheduled activities are:

Monday:  Hey Day
Each person wears a nametag. Students/staff are encouraged to greet others by their name in the hallway, lunchroom, cafeteria, etc.

Tuesday:  Mix It Up Day
Tables are by labeled with different descriptions (i.e. birthday month, # of siblings, favorite color, favorite movie, etc.) Children will choose a table based on the description that fits them. This provides them the opportunity to sit with people who have something in common with them but may not be someone they regularly sit with.

Wednesday:  Start with Hello Scavenger Hunt Raffle
Students ask other children to help them complete a scavenger hunt form based on various descriptors (i.e. I’ve been to Arizona, favorite color is orange, etc.)  Once the form is completed, students enter them into a raffle.

Thursday:  Last day to enter the Start with Hello Scavenger Hunt Raffle
Raffle winners will be chosen and announced during prior to dismissal. The winners will participate in a Staff vs Students Game while being cheered on by their school family.

Friday:  Hillside Pride/Game Day
Everyone will be dressed in Hillside Spirit Wear or blue as we cheer on the students and staff participating in the Staff vs Students game.
