FAQ for Hillside Parents in reference to Aesthetic course selections
Dear Hillside Families,
I understand that there have been many questions and concerns about the process of registering your children for their aesthetic courses. Please rest assured that it is my goal to ensure parents have clarity on the process. In our last communication from the principal, I mentioned that the aesthetic courses would be listed on the Hillside website this week, including specific times and dates. The instructions on how to register your children can be found on the registration form itself for each trimester.
Moving forward, I will send out the instructions to parents to familiarize themselves with the process a few days before the registration period. I recognize that this process can be tedious, but please know that I am here to guide you through it. To provide additional clarity, I have included some frequently asked questions from families below:
Q: Where are the class descriptions for the classes?
A: The course descriptions are all located on our Hillside website under the Aesthetics Course Description Tab
Q: When is the first day families can register? Last day?
A: The first day to register for families is June 26, 2024. The last day to register students is on July 26, 2024.
Q: What happens if I do not register on time?
A: The administration team will select the Aesthetic courses for students to take for the trimester. Parents can always use the add/drop period to change their child’s courses. Please email [email protected] if you have any issues.
Q: Is it true that course registration operates on a first-come, first-served basis?
A: This statement is incorrect. Please note that we do not use timestamps or a first-come, first-served system. Instead, we print out our spreadsheets randomly to ensure that all students have an equal chance of enrolling in popular courses that may have limited spots.
Q: Where can I find the I Eligibility parent letters that were sent out on June 20th?
A: The CI parent letters can be found in Genesis under the document tab
Q: What if students weren't selected for a CI class in their letter? Can they request an exception? Should families still attempt to register for a CI class if they are interested, even if their child was not selected for that CI course?
A: Please DO NOT select a course that your child is not eligible for. (Refer to the CI registration letter sent home with students). We reference the registration sheets when scheduling the students, so by submitting a request for a class your child is not eligible for could result in the student being placed in a class they do not want.
Q: Will there be a school musical and gymnastics show this year?
A: Yes to both. We will have both shows as we do every year.
Q: Which cycle of classes do kids need to be enrolled in to participate in the Winter/Chorus Concerts, Musical, Dance Show, Gymnastic shows?
A: Please refer the chart below and click on our course descriptions for more information

Q: What do 3rd grade parents need to do? (I know they do nothing now) When will class selection start for them?
A: The 3rd grade CI/Aesthetic selection process will take place in October, additional information forthcoming. If you have a 3rd grader, there is NOTHING for you to do at this time.
Q: Since many people are traveling, what happens if they don't register by the deadline?
A: If families do not have an opportunity to register by the deadline, the administration team will assign aesthetic courses for the student. The Add/Drop period will provide parents with an opportunity to change their child’s courses. Please email [email protected] if you have any concerns or issues. .
