GREAT ARTISTS
Students in this aesthetic will create their own works of art, based on artwork from different times and cultures. They will learn about the art elements as they apply them to projects such as sculpture, painting, pottery, masks, and printmaking.
CI ART
This is an advanced art class. Students must pass the CI Art test in order to enter this course. They will learn about the art elements line, shape, color, value, form, space and texture as they apply them to various projects such as drawing, weaving, painting, and pottery.
SMART ART
Students in this aesthetic will learn about line, texture, value, shape, form, color, and space as they apply these elements of art to various projects such as sculpture, painting, pottery, masks, and printmaking.
FINE ARTS
In this class, students will explore such media as watercolor, tempera, pastels, colored pencil, fibers, and clay. Emphasis will be on skill development in drawing, painting, design, and composition.
CI PRINTER'S PARADISE (4TH AND 5TH GRADE)
This is an advanced art class. Students must pass the CI Art assessment in order to enter this course. Students will learn about the art elements as they apply them to a variety of printmaking techniques that may include stamping, monoprinting, scratch foam printing and fabric printing.
CI ARTISTIC BOOKMAKING (4TH AND 5TH GRADE)
This is an advanced art class. Students must pass the CI Art test to enter this course.
This course provides children with the opportunity to expand their definition of a “book”. The students learn many simple, but unusual formats such as accordion, pop-up, tunnel, scroll, and Japanese books, as well as color pencil techniques.
CI FIBER ARTS (4TH AND 5TH GRADE)
This is an advanced course. Students must pass the CI Art test to take this class. This class will introduce students to various fibers through popular and traditional activities such as yarn painting, weaving, basket making and coiling. Artwork can be created from a vast array of materials and the use of textiles and natural and manmade fibers will add a new dimension to the creative process.
