Parent Academy Series:
• Identifying & Addressing Challenging Emotions” Edgemont Elementary School hosted our 1st workshop which featured our community partner, Quantum Psychotherapy. Mr. Connor Wills provided tips to help parents identify and address challenging emotions. Our SEL Team members shared and demonstrated the value of teaching self-regulation techniques; a “calm & cozy” corner was on display; and 2 families were gifted “Resiliency Toolkits” to create a calming space for children in their own home.
• Grief & Loss: Our 2nd Parent Academy will be on January 9, 2024, 7:00-8:00pm in the MHS LGI room. All parents and caregivers are invited to attend this sensitive, yet invaluable program offered through our partnership with Imagine. An invitation and RSVP will follow.

The entire SEL Team will attend the 2nd and 3rd level workshops with some members proceeding to complete Imagine’s Grief Specialist Training series.
Additional Training Offered:
• Nurtured Heart Approach (NHA) Training - Middle School “School Climate Teams” attended training in preparation for the DREAMs initiative implementation. Two of our District DREAMs Team Leaders have also met the requirements to become Certified NHA Trainers.

HIB Grades were presented during a recent public session in preparation for submission to the NJDOE. The district achieved “Exceeds Standards” rating in all but one area of the assessment. This year’s results reflect the commitment and dedication of the SEL Team, School Climate Teams, and their building leaders.
